The Inside Story of the Fine Swiss Watch
Part Fourteen
The Chronometer is the Ultimate in Timepieces. Before it can carry the designation of Chronometer, each fine Swiss watch of this type must pass rigidly controlled tests for accuracy, under the severest conditions of varying temperatures, pressures, and position. The designation of Chronometer as applied to watches is a guarantee of precision given by official Swiss horological observatories; only watches fulfilling these rigid requirements are marked 'Chronometer' by members of The Swiss Federation of Watch Manufacturers. It's indeed a tribute of Swiss skill and craftsmanship that such a marvelously accurate watch can be made in wristlet size.
